Xi'an, known as Chang'an in ancient times, is located in northwest China, in the middle of Guanzhong Plain, bordering Weihe River in the north and Qinling Mountains in the south. Since ancient times, Xi'an has enjoyed the reputation of "eight rivers around Chang'an". Xi'an was designated as a "World Historical City" by UNESCO in 1981.
